Welcome to the Phocea’s space dedicated to Tec Diving.

Our dive centre is located in Playa del Carmen, in the Yucatan peninsula, on the « Riviera Maya », 65km to the South from Cancun International Airport. Phocea is the only PADI Gold Plam Instructor Development Centre in Playa del Carmen. The guides and Instructors spek English, french and spanish and all of them are recognized by worldwide dive organizations.

This Mexican coast has a quite well adapted climate for diving, the water is warm and cristal clear, what allows to dive almost all year long in excellent conditions. The dives are diversified and well adapted for any tec dive : from « El Cantil », the fault located between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel to the magick of the Yucatan cenotes, which are so many in this area of Mexico and are also so close to the dive centre.

We propose all DSAT (PADI tec branch) tec trainings with the following courses : TEC 40, TEC 45, TEC 50, TEC 65, Trimix and TEC Trimix Diver but also all the TDI Cave courses with the Cavern, the Intro to Cave and the Full Cave.

We also propose packages, combining different courses in one schedule, with just the courses or also all included with accommodation at our hotel Colibri and meals.

If you have already had a Full Cave certification from a recognized dive organization, you may wish to go and explore the cenotes, to go somewhere almost nobody has ever been et to experience a wonderful moment of Mayan history visiting an underground rivers network where you will be able to see Mayan vestiges such as pottery in an incredible cristal clear water.

You wish to make a Trimix dive on the fault between Playa and Cozumel, to be impressed by a gigantic wall in a warm and quite clear water, feel free to contact us.

Vincent is in charge of the Phocea Tec activities, you will meet an impassioned person by the cenotes and the tec dives. Always wishing to diversify his activities with the greatest professionalism possible, Phocea set up this activity with Pascal Bernabé (world recordman of the deepest scuba dive : 330m). Phocea is the only dive centre in Yucatan that is able to propose all the recreational, professional and tec training courses as well as in English, French or Spanish.

Phocea Mexico accommodation: the Plaza hotel

The Plaza Hotel is located just opposite the diving center, a two-minute walk from the beach.

The hotel has 30 comfortable recently renovated and decorated rooms equipped with 2 double beds, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, bathroom, safety deposit box, TV and mini-bar. Some of the rooms are ideal for families as they have 3 double beds and a kitchenette. Rooms have a private terrace or direct access to the interior hotel patio, a refuge from the heat, where you can have a rest.

Phocea Mexico joins the Sea Shepherd!

After having been granted the Ambassador Center « Longitude 181 Nature » certification and involving ourselves to respect the international responsible diver declaration, Phocea Mexico gives a step forward towards the ecosystem protection supporting the action of the Sea Shepherd!

Founded in 1977, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit organization that is dedicated to the underwater fauna and flora conservation. Its mission is to fight against marine bottoms destruction and species massacre in all the oceans of the world, and also to set up concrete measures to preserve the ecosystem. The Sea Shepherd stands out with the use of direct actions to expose to everyone the illegal activities taking place in the high seas and destroy them. The Sea Shepherd is indeed engaged in the safeguard of the ecosystem biodiversity for next generations.
